Short Month Best-of-the-Rest (non-nude) Sensationals — Vaughan Lewis is a gallerist and preparator at MaganMetz Gallery, as well as participating in private curatorial projects. MagnanMetz Gallery is co-owned and directed by Alberto Magnan and Dara Metz. The gallery exhibits international cutting-edge, emerging and established artists working in a broad range of media. Magnan and Metz work closely with their artists to develop and promote their careers and support complex and unique projects in both the private and public sphere.

Barebrush offers the best art gallery and art contest, online since 2006. A total of 256 artworks were entered by 50 artists world-wide. Barebrush founder and CEO, Ilene Skeen selected the art and guest curator, Claudia Seymour, Salmagundi Club, chose the Curators’ Choice nominees. A total of 22 artists represent the 30 artworks for the 30 days in September. Viewers can see the Best-of-the-Rest calendar on the website and vote in the monthly poll for their favorite. Winners of the poll are determined by the public vote.

About the September 2013 Calendar
“E. A. POE” by Rebecca VennThe ++ of Falling in Love — Guest curator for September, Claudia Seymour, former president of the Salmagundi Club, selected the September Curators’ Choice nominees for the Best-of-the-Rest calendar. Barebrush publishes three calendars per month. This all non-nude genre, all media calendar is growing in popularity with both the traditional figurative artists and nude art photographers. Each calendar is an opportunity for Barebrush artists to showcase the depth and breadth of their work.
“”Valley Stream Picnic”” by Pacifico PalumboMs. Seymour selected a sparkling watercolor, Formentera Terrace, by the late Jacqui Morgan of New York City to appear on September 1. Ms. Seymour also chose: a watercolor portrait, E. A. Poe by Rebecca Venn of Kenosha WI; and and oil painting,Valley Stream Picnic by Pacifico Palumbo of Colrain, MA.
Jacqui Morgan (1939-2013) was a superlative watercolor artist, author and a popular Illustration Department professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in NYC since 2000 and was noted for her flagship course IL 126 Watercolor Compositions. A memorial is scheduled for Sept 19 at FIT.
Art in Barebrush calendars is eligible for Falling in Love with N*des++, our second 2nd “brick & mortar” invitational gallery show. This unique show is exclusive for Barebrush artists to showcase their calendar art. This year, while mostly nude, the show will also include some non-nude art (hence the Falling in Love with N*des++). This show opens on October 17th at the Highline Loft | Chelsea NYC. It is advertised in October NY Gallery Guide. A show catalogue will be available at the gallery. Information about this and our first gallery show in February 2011 is available at Barebrush.com. This is an international calendar. In addition to the US, art in this calendar comes from Panama; Mount Helena, Australia; Perth, Australia; San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; Malaga, Spain; and Manchester, UK.
About the Barebrush Art Calendar Contests
Each of the artists selected for the calendar receives two (2) complimentary listings. Three artists, indicated by asterisks (*), are nominated for the Curators’ Choice Awards. Curators’ Choice nominees receive 8 additional complimentary listings. Barebrush curators (past and present) vote on the Curators’ Choice nominees. The public is also invited to vote. The top artist receives an additional prize. The public may also vote for “The People’s Choice” the poll which includes all of the art in the calendar. The top three artists in “The People’s Choice” receive one (1) complementary listing. Winners announced October 1st.Winning art is historic and is viewable in the calendar archives (dating from 2006). Winning art becomes a permanent part of the history of Barebrush.com. In addition, each artwork’s detail page show the date and curator of each calendar win as part of its Barebrush Provenance. The Barebrush program of retiring artworks which have been selected for three calendars is designed to encourage all artists to show their best new work and keep their online galleries fresh and interesting.

Six Degrees of Summer: Part III—Guest curator for July and August is Claudia Seymour, former president of the Salmagundi Club, widely collected artist, and formidable art collector in her own right.
In addition to Wisconsin and New York, art in this calendar comes from Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Virginia, as well as Panama, St. Petersberg, Russia and Malaga, Spain.
