The AIA Art Group was formed nine years ago by professional and dedicated visual artists from around the world, who were all living and working in Andalucía.
The AIA Art Group consisting Artist members from a diverse number of countries put on under the AIA banner up to 12 different solo, joint and collective exhibitions each year in locations stretching from Gibraltar to Nerja, inland from Competa to Alora; in venues east of Malaga through Marbella and Estepona as well as in Malaga City and even overseas in Helsinki.
Their exhibitions have been seen in Casa de la Culturas in various towns along the Costa del Sol, in Palacios de Ferias y Congresos, in private and public galleries, Malaga Airport, quality hotels and restaurants as well as luxury villas. Individual members have exhibited extensively throughout the World.
Their relationship with the Local and International Press, Radio and Television ensures that the profile of the AIA is constantly before the public with notices of their forthcoming and current exhibitions publicized in many different languages on an ongoing basis. The AIA brand is well known on the Costa del Sol and elsewhere.
The AIA is a private, voluntary, not for profit, participatory, self help group of like minded artists. They are a registered association in Spain with legal status. They have a website and a presence on Facebook and Twitter.
Members are circularized regularly as opportunities arise and they are expected to bring researched venues to the group also for all Members to consider.
Artistic ability is only one of the criteria for new members. Attending meetings of the AIA-Group is essential as is sharing the workload.
Further information is available from the AIA web site, www.aia-artgroup.com or from NADFAS AIA members, Richard Wood, Dolores Cummiskey or Roger Cummiskey and Enrique Linaza.

Vote of thanks by Roger Cummiskey, co Founder of the AIA.
The Andalusian International Artists Group – Artistas Internacionales en Andalucia. March 11, 2013
It gives me great pleasure to propose this vote of thanks to Dr Webb for the beautiful picture he has painted of a ledgendary living Artist. So often our lectures are about buildings or deceased artists, todays was a breath of fresh air. It is easy to empathize with David Hockney.
David Hockney is a very likable, gracious and friendly man whom I had the great pleasure of meeting at the Florence Biennale in 2003 where he was granted the Lorenzo il Magnifico award for Lifetime Career Achievement.
David Hockney has embraced technology in his efforts to push out the boundaries of Painting. He studied and used the camera obscura, the camera lucida, the polaroid camera, the photocopier, fax machine, computers and software in all their guises. He embraced Digital cameras and now the iPhone and iPad as he has blazed the trail for artists Worldwide.
Dr Webb´s talk today has endorsed this and has given us a terrific insight into David Hockney, OM. For this we would like to say a very special thank you to you, Dr Webb.
David Hockney | Lifetime Achievement Award 2003
Celebrated British artist David Hockney presented a public lecture on Renaissance artists and optical instruments at the 4th Florence International Biennale of Contemporary Art on Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at 5pm. At the conclusion of the lecture, Pasquale Celona, President of the Florence Biennale, awarded Hockney the Lorenzo il Magnifico award for Lifetime Career Achievement. The 2003 edition of the Florence Biennale was significantly expanded with the participation of more than 800 artists from 70 countries. Directed by John T. Spike, the 4th Florence Biennale secured the exposition’s status as the world’s most comprehensive venue of international contemporary art. The exhibition enjoys the high patronage of President Ciampi and official recognition as a member in the United Nations’ program “Dialogue among Civilizations”. The International Jury included such noted critics as Dore Ashton and Barbara Rose.
Born in England in 1937, David Hockney is among the world’s best known artists. Trained as a painter, Hockney was already world renowned when he suddenly turned to photography in 1981. He has since produced work in almost every medium – painting, drawing, stage design, photography and printmaking – and he has stretched the previous boundaries in all of them. Hockney’s years of research into optics and perspective culminated in 2001 with the publication of his internationally best-selling book, Secret Knowledge. Innumerable international symposia have since been dedicated to the consideration of his provocative new observations of the great masters’ knowledge and use of optical projections in the production of some of the world’s greatest masterpieces.
